The Mount Pleasant High School swim team traveled to Texas High on October 17 for a dual meet and came away with several top three finishes. Ryan Sharp dominated once again winning the boys 200m freestyle 100m backstroke. Sophie Greco placed third in the girls 50m freestyle and 100m backstroke while anchoring the 200m freestyle team that finished second. The rest of the results are as follows:
On a dreary, rainy Monday morning the Mount Pleasant cross-country teams would not let the weather hold them back from seeking their second consecutive district championship. The varsity boys team took the top three spots on the podium and ran away with the gold to qualify for the regional meet next week. The varsity girls’ team also performed well, narrowly missing a bid to next week’s meet but putting up one of their best performances of the season.
The Chapel Hill Red Devils exerted the dominance again this past Saturday at the District Meet placing first overall and punching their ticket to Regionals. Not only did they win first as a team, but place four young men in the top ten and Lucas Thomas won first overall posting a 17:18 5000 meter time. The Red Devils backing him up were Marcos Netro (4th/18:20), Cameron Thomas (6th/18:33), CJ Kump (8th/18:55), Tristian Davis (16th/19:40), Alex Rivera (19th/19:49) and Ethan Havens (20th/20:06).
The Mount Pleasant Junior High Tigers took on Hallsville this week with the seventh grade playing at home and the eighth grade playing on the road. The teams combined to earn three win with the only loss coming at the hands of the eighth grade A team.
The Mount Pleasant Tigers came into Friday night’s game ready to make some noise in District 2-5A but the Texas High Tigers had other plans. Mount Pleasant got off to a great start winning the first quarter, but missed opportunities, mistakes, and penalties caused the Tigers the momentum they needed.
