As the Titus County Extension Agent, I get the opportunity to work with some very talented and dedicated youth. Titus County 4-H Members had a great run at the 2022 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Kammie Terrell and Kinley Hatfield both competed in the Range and Pasture Plant Identification Contest. Contestants must identify 60 plants and record their characteristics including whether the plant is an annual or perennial, season of growth, native or introduced, the grazing and wildlife value and if it is poisonous. These 4-H members have learned 129 different Range and Pasture Plants that are commonly found across the state of Texas. Congratulations to Kammie Terrell for taking home 5th High Point Overall Junior Individual and to Kinley Hatfield for doing an incredible job at her first Houston Livestock Show Contest.
