There are those who say that sending prayers is not enough. Social media emojis are not enough. There are those who will make it a political issue and rail about gun control. There are those who will say that every school in our country should have policemen and metal detectors. And, there are those who will disagree with me and call me simplistic.

Cooper, Brosnan come out on top in run-offs

The Republican primary run-off election has come to an end and a new County Judge and County Clerk have been elected. Kent Cooper, owner and partner at Bates Cooper Sloan Funeral Home, has been elected the next Titus County Judge with a total of 1,616 votes over opponent attorney Lori Chism, who brought in 1,233 votes.

CHHS celebrates honor grads

On Wednesday morning, Chapel Hill High School held its annual honors breakfast celebrating the top ten percent of the graduating class at Herschel’s Family Restaurant. In attendance were school board members, faculty and staff, honors graduates, and special guests and family members of the graduates.

MPHS seniors claim UIL state gold and silver medals

Mount Pleasant High School recent graduates, Connelly Cowan and Taylor Hubbs, claimed gold and silver medals in Informative Extemporaneous Speaking at the UIL State Speech championships in Austin on May 24-25. MPHS was also named the 5A State Champion speech team for the 2021-2022 school year, a first in school history.

Beetle Shop mechanic arrested for theft, unauthorized use of vehicle

Beginning on or about April 26, Titus County Sheriff ’s Office conducted the first of several investigations related to suspicious thefts from and suspicious usage of several customers’ vehicles after they left them at the Beetle Shop, located at 565 CR 2430 at the intersection of FM 899.
