MPISD new teachers

MPISD welcomed new teachers on all eight campuses in the district. They spent 2 ½ days in new teacher inservice geared specifically toward welcoming them in to their new district. Some are brand new to teaching while others have taught previously but are new to MPISD. They finished their inservice weeks at the annual New Teacher Breakfast hosted by the Mount Pleasant Titus County Chamber of Commerce.

Texas gas prices lowest in nation

by GARY BORDERS, Texas Press Association While gas prices nationwide dropped below $4 per gallon average last week, the state boasts the lowest prices in the country at an average of $3.49 — 50 cents below the national average, according to AAA Texas. “Retail gasoline prices in Texas fell for the eighth consecutive week,” said AAA Texas spokesperson Daniel Armbruster.

MPISD holds Tiger Share Fair

Mount Pleasant ISD staff members participated in the 6th annual Tiger Share Fair on Monday, August 15, on the newly renovated Mount Pleasant High School campus. The Tiger Share Fair is a self-run professional development fair where participants could attend sessions on everything from behavior and classroom management to using Microsoft Teams in the classroom to CPR and Stop the Bleed to digital resources for the K-6 classroom, just to name a few. Presenters were primarily MPISD staff members with additional presentations provided by the Region VIII Education Support Center. Attendees could also visit the exhibit hall that provided information from community resources like the TRMC Wellness Center, the Mount Pleasant Tiger Athletic Boosters, and the Mount Pleasant Titus County Retired School Personnel Association as well as several vendors from local businesses. Teachers and staff are preparing for the first day of school on Wednesday, August 17.

Residents catching mysterious bug!

Local area residents and merchants are catching a mysterious bug. While there isn’t any eminent danger, this bugs popularity is sure to grow. This new strain called the “Bingo Bug” can mean “Bingo Bucks” for Tribune readers.

TXDot paves the way for Northeast Texas Trail

Publisher Exciting news for Northeast Texas hikers and bikers came out of Austin this week with the announcement by the Texas Department of Transportation that they have received $25 million in federal funds to expand two trail corridors in northeast Texas and El Paso. Both trails are components of the state’s envisioned Bicycle Tourism Trails network.
