In their meeting on November 15, Titus County Commissioners began by recognizing the 100th anniversary of the Mount Pleasant Rotary Club. Judge Brian Lee read from an official proclamation noting, “The Rotary Club of Mount Pleasant is the oldest civic club in the county. The Rotary Club was founded on January 1, 1922… since then the club and its Rotarians have been committed to serving our community, nation, and our world. The foundation of the clubs’ activities is its five avenues of service, club, vocational, community, international, and youth service. The club has helped many young residents survive through its support of literary activities and other youth programs. The club and its foundation annually distribute financial grants to local organizations serving the health, humanitarian, and educational needs of the community, including Rotary internationals partnership with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to eradicate Polio worldwide while demonstrating its belief in the Rotary International motto of service above self. The club and its foundation have provided innumerable other service projects that have benefited our community. The county of Titus and our residents are grateful for the Rotary Club of Mount Pleasant 100 years of service and its Rotarians for their compassionate roles in building a strong community. Now, therefore, I Brian Lee Judge of Titus County herby do proclaim November 15 of 2022 the Rotary Club of Mount Pleasant 100th anniversary day in this county of Titus.”
