Commissioners move payroll department

The Titus County commissioners had their regular meeting this past week where they discussed possibly approving moving the payroll function, including current payroll clerk, Sharon Reynolds, and payroll budget, from the auditor’s office to the treasures office.

Winter Coat Drive The colder weather is upon us and there are many in our community in need of warm clothing. In response to these needs, The Light Ministries of NE Texas and We Are Mt. Pleasant are partnering to put on a Winter Coat Drive. If you want to help by donating winter coats, hats, scarves, thermals and/or socks we would greatly appreciate your efforts. You can drop off said items either at Jo’s downtown 102 N. Jefferson Mt. Pleasant, Tx or at The Light Ministries at 7835 FM 1402 Mt.

• There are 143 inmates in jail with 120 males and 26 females. Since 02/13/2023 the following have been booked into the jail, • Dominique Jackson, 43 of Dallas, was arrested on a warrant for Sexual Assault of a Child.

Chapel Hill FBLA Students Qualify for State

On Monday, January 30th at Region 8 ESC Chapel Hill students competed at the Area Future Business Leaders of America contest. A total of 50 students competed in which 45 of them qualified for the State competition which will be held on March 22nd through March 24th in Galveston, TX. Over 56% of the competing FBLA students placed either 1st or 2nd.

MPHS counselor named Regional Counselor of the Year

Mount Pleasant High School counselor, Mandy Jones, was awarded the Army Regional Counselor of the Year award by Sergeant First Class Valdez, the Station Commander for the Mount Pleasant Army Recruiting Station. This prestigious award is given to a counselor each year for their efforts in promoting the recruitment, support, and recognition of the Army at high schools across the United States. Jones is the counselor for the MPHS Class of 2023.

Seminary prepares to offer accreditation to their community

Established in 1948 in Henderson, Texas Baptist Institute and Seminary has spent nearly 75 years training and equipping those whose goals are to “advance the Kingdom of God through the local church ministry of fulfilling the Great Commission.” But a new twist seems to be necessary in order to provide the very best they can for their students.
