Learn about prescription drug and alcohol safety during March and April

Pain is overwhelming, making it hard to carry out small everyday tasks. About three out of four older adults will experience chronic pain, and a high percentage of these older adults will be prescribed opioids to manage their pain. There are two national observances in March and April that highlight prescription drug and alcohol safety.

WorKampers lend a helping hand at NTCC

Did you know that NTCC currently has 15 WorKampers from all over the country who live on campus and help out with important tasks that impact the entire college? NTCC’s unique WorKamping Program allows full-time RVers an opportunity to exchange work for rent at a small RV park located on the NTCC campus (near the rodeo arena). Retirees can share their considerable experience and talents to help with projects like landscaping, painting, farming, electrical, plumbing, and computer support.

Harts Bluff students excel at TAFE

This past weekend, the eight members of the Harts Bluff TAFE (Texas Association of Future Educators( chapter traveled to the Kalahari Resort in Round Rock, Texas, to compete in the Teach Tomorrow Summit, the TAFE State Competition. There were 276 schools from across the state of Texas, with a total of 2,965 students in attendance, making up a total of 1,887 competitive entries, all vying for a chance to advance to the Educators Rising National Competition.

Poaching ring busted, MP man one of three arrested in multi-state sting

Northeast Texas game wardens recently arrested three men, including a Mount Pleasant man, following a threeyear investigation into a deer poaching ring that spanned four states including Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Iowa. Officially called the unlawful take of a wildlife resource while hunting, poaching is a serious issue in Texas, with thousands of deer killed each year outside of the normal seasons and legal parameters.
