City council approves TWC high demand job training grant

The council then discussed and considered approval of Resolution 2023-2 changing the name of three County Roads that have been annexed in the city. Those three roads are Cr 1400, Cr 1317, and Cr 1314. County Road 1400 will be renamed Deer Park Lane, County Road 1317 will be renamed Breezeway Drive, and County Road 1314 will be extended and remain Billy Daniel Parkway.

• Thereare142inmates in jail with 120 males and 22 females. Since 03/08/2023 the following have been booked into the jail, • BrandonK.Swindell, 25 of Cookville, was arrested on a warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance, and a Texas Parole warrant.

Mount Pleasant High School Winter Guards compete in Austin

To be among the best, you have to compete with the best. And that is just what the MPHS Varsity and JVA Winter Guards set out to do at the Winter Guard International (WGI) Austin Regional at Glenn High School in Leader on March 4-5. The competition featured 42 teams in the Scholastic A division with most coming from Central and South Texas. Most of the schools were large 6A programs from the Austin, Houston, and San Antonio area. Both the Varsity and JVA competed in the same classification.

MPHS Cosmetology students learn about becoming an esthetician

The Mount Pleasant High School Cosmetology program recently welcomed guest speaker, Nelly Monreal, to speak to students about her career as an Esthetician. Monreal owns Glo Esthetics in Mount Pleasant and is a certified medical esthetician. Glo Esthetics offers services such as facials, waxing, lashes, and Monreal has been taking classes to become a make-up artist. She spoke to the students about her career and her business and students were able to watch the process of providing a facial.

Project Linus receives donation from Walmart

Project Linus received a donation from the Walmart located in Mt. Pleasant on March 7. This donation will go towards providing handmade blankets for children who are either seriously ill, or have been through a traumatic situation.
