The Mount Pleasant High School Cross-Examination Debate team of seniors Anthony Orellana and Eli Rider competed in the UIL 5A State CX Debate tournament on March 17-18 at the University of Texas at Austin. It would be the first appearance at CX State for Rider and the second for Orellana.

Titus County drivers with infotainment systems in their vehicles will soon see messages letting them know when Titus Regional Medical Center EMS vehicles are approaching. TRMC has recently partnered with HAAS Alert and new TRMC EMS vehicles will feature HAAS Alert’s Safety Cloud, which automatically sends a notification to cell phones and vehicle infotainment systems when an emergency vehicle is approaching, letting drivers, cyclists and pedestrians know where the vehicle is approaching from.

Divya Mistry of Mount Pleasant – a first-year student at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis – was recently honored with the Presidential Endowed Scholarship Award. The award recognizes an optometry student with a competitive grade point average and Optometry Admission Test score and has demonstrated leadership and service. It comes with a $60,000 scholarship award over the course of the fouryear doctorate program.
