US Roast was started in 2017 by Scott Glover, who also founded Mid-America Pet Food and The Mid-America Flight Museum. Since then, the company has been assembling a team of local Mount Pleasant people and James Parry. Today they roast coffee in Mount Pleasant wholesale for independently owned coffee shops around the country.

MPHS UIL advances to UIL State Academic meet

The Mount Pleasant High School UIL Academic team competed in the Region II 5A UIL Academic Meet on April 22 at the University of Texas at Arlington. Overall, 6 MPHS students have advanced to the State Meet.

Titus County 4-H Livestock Judging Team advances to State

Titus County 4-H Members competed in the District IV 4-H Livestock Judging Contest held in College Station on Saturday, April 22. The Senior Team consisting of Gunner Rodgers, Raini Taylor, Leah Schmitt and Keelie Gibson took home 2nd Overall High Point Team advancing them to the State Contest which will be held in June at Texas A&M University. Gunner Rodgers placed 3rd overall, Leah Schmitt placed 6th overall and Raini Taylor placed 10th overall in the senior age division. In the reasons division, Raini Taylor placed 3rd overall, Gunner Rodgers placed 6th overall and Leah Schmitt placed 10th overall.

Greater Bibleway to hold annual musical ‘A Glimpse of Heaven’ Saturday

Greater Bibleway Missionary Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant is hoping to give the entire community “A Glimpse of Heaven.” The church, located at 503 School Street in Mount Pleasant will present its third annual community musical, “A Glimpse of Heaven,” Saturday evening at 6 p.m. “This is our third year to do the musical and we want as many people in the community to come this year as possible,” said organizer Donna Norman.

‘The Tin Woman’ wins gold at regionals

Rivercrest High School’s One-Act Play troupe won first place in regional competition at Grayson Community College April 20 and will advance to the State OAP performances, set for May 4-6. The group took home five awards with their performance of “The Tin Woman.” Martin Barroso and Emery Lindsey were named Best Performers, Macy Sherill was named to the All-Star Cast, Tristan Rosson was named Honorable Mention All-Star Cast and Will Hider was named Best Tech.
