More people are dying in motorcycle crashes in Texas

As motorcycle fatalities continue to rise and the spring weather draws more riders to Texas roadways, TxDOT is urging drivers to look twice and be considerate on the road around motorcycle riders. Amy Jo Miller was enjoying a ride on the back of her boyfriend’s motorcycle in Bell County when an inattentive driver turned left in front of them, hitting the bike and throwing her across the road.

Chapel Hill FFA teams finish year with trip to state

The Chapel Hill FFA had two teams advance to the State CDE competition, held last week. The chapter’s livestock judging team of Leah Schmitt, Katy Jo Rivinius, Raini Taylor and Gunner Rodgers and the ag sales team of Drake Klepzig, Skye Klepzig, Isela Gonzalez and Katie McGregor both advanced to state competition.

NTCC Foundation raises $244,730 on East Texas Giving Day

The Northeast Texas Community College Foundation finished East Texas Giving Day at the top of the leaderboard for the second year in a row this Tuesday. NTCC raised a whopping $244,730 via the annual fundraising event that has become a regional tradition.

Dance Showcase

Wallace Middle School held its first Dance Showcase on Friday, April 21 in the P.E. Wallace gym. The Showcase featured performances from all seven dance classes and the Wallace Dance Team with special guest performances by the Advanced Dance Team at Mount Pleasant Junior High, Tiger Doll Captain Chloe Carter, soloist Khyia Bolton from Mount Pleasant Junior High, and soloists Presley Alexander, Piper Hearron, and Kenlee Jaggers from Raevin’s Dance Factory. The Wallace dance program is under the direction of Stefen Harmon.
