House panel calls for Paxton’s impeachment

The Texas House voted overwhelmingly to impeach Attorney General Ken Paxton Saturday, only the third time in the state’s history that has occurred. The Austin American-Statesman and numerous news outlets reported the chamber voted 121-23 to remove Paxton, 60, from office while he awaits a trial in the Senate during a special session yet to be called.

JuneteeNth Celebration

June is traditionally a time to honor the American flag and dads, but it is also an opportunity to celebrate a historic event with roots dating back to 1865. First held in downtown Mount Pleasant in 2019, the 2023 Juneteenth SATURDAY Celebration continues the local tradition of celebrating the rich history tied to the nation’s newest federal holiday.

Mount Pleasant got its chance to celebrate and “eat mor chikin” during Thursday’s grand opening of Chick-Fil-A’s newest restaurant at 105 E. 16th St.
