Lady Tigers down Texas High to stay in playoff race

The Mount Pleasant Lady Tigers collected a 5545 victory over visiting Texas High on Friday, Jan. 17 to stay in the hunt for a playoff berth. The Lady Tigers improved to 8-4 in District 10-5A and 14-8 overall.“Our motto is ‘We All We Got’,” noted Coach Jackson- Jones.

There’s new brass at the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s Austin headquarters.Veteran wildlife biologist Alan Cain was recently selected as the new wildlife division director for the state agency.

Texas bass pro Wyatt Frankens of Corrigan grabbed the top prize in the MLF Phoenix Bass Fishing season opener held Jan. 4 on Sam Rayburn.Frankens’ five-bass limit weighed 29-01 pounds. He earned $4,796 for the win.

Arzate named to 2A All State team

Harts Bluff senior Alexa Arzate was named to the 2A All State cross country team last week. Arzate was coached by Harts Bluff coach Harland Johns.The Texas Girls Coaches Association selects All-State teams in cross country and volleyball.
