The Lady Tiger soccer team added their second college signee of the year on Tuesday as senior forward Lessete Cruz signed a letter of intent to stay local and join the Northeast Texas Community College Lady Eagles. Cruz will look to add some firepower to a Lady Eagles squad that only played five games in a Covid shortened season last year. The four-year letterman earned first team all-district honors this season leading Mount Pleasant in scoring with 6 goals and added 2 assists. “Lessete is a very versatile player, “ praised head Mount Pleasant girls’ coach David Zaldivar. “She will give NTCC the flexibility to play her at different positions depending on what type of game it is. She can be a playmaker, control the game at midfield, or be a shutdown defender.” Zaldivar also hopes that Cruz’s signing helps motivate his younger players. “Lessete was a four-year letterman and one of our captains this season, “ continued Zaldivar. “Our younger girls really look up to her, so for them to see her move on and continue playing is something that I think will encourage them to have that same goal.” Cruz will join up with fellow Mount Pleasant alum Zaydie Garrett who played for the Lady Eagles last season.
