MPHS Swimmers place in top 15 at Regionals

More than 20 schools traveled to the Region 4-5A Swim Meet this week with Mount Pleasant sending both the boys and girls relay teams and sophomore Sophie Greco competing individually. The meet was split into two days, Monday and Tuesday, with the top 16 swimmers from each event qualifying for the finals on Tuesday. The Tigers and Lady Tigers qualified for the finals in every event except for one boys’ relay team.

Sophie Greco advanced to the finals in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke. She placed 14th overall in the freestyle and almost notched a top ten finish with an 11th place result in the backstroke. The girls’ relay team of Reese Ball, Kate Ball, Hannah Anderson, and Grelyn Goolsby topped out in 10th place in the Medley Relay and finished 11th in the Freestyle Relay. The boys’ Freestyle Relay team of Eli Rider, Jack Welborn, Hugo Bernardi, and Jacob Elliott finished 14th in their event.

The Mount Pleasant Swim Team is coached by high school counselor Jerilyn Goolsby.
