Early season tensions were finally eased on Tuesday evening as the Mount Pleasant Lady Tiger volleyball team came back from a 2-1 deficit versus Marshall to win their first district game since 2020 with game scores of 25-20, 22-25, 20-25, 25-22, and 1513. The victory vaulted the Lady Tigers into a four-way tie for second place in the district with a challenging road test against district leading Hallsville on Friday. Head coach Kristy Ciuba continues to right the ship in her first season leading the Lady Tigers. “This was such a great win for the girls,” said an elated Ciuba. “Especially coming back and winning two sets in a row to close out the match. The girls did such a great job of competing fearlessly, attacking, and being aggressive instead of playing tight and safe at the end.”

Aziyah Farrier and Paris Beard led the Lady Tiger attack with 19 kills apiece. Autiuana Johnson chipped in with 7 kills. Jordan Andrade continued her strong play at setter with 39 assists and Jordyn Hargrave led the team with 30 digs. The Lady Tigers (11-16, 1-1) will face a challenging road series with their next three matches at Hallsville (23-7, 2-0) Friday, at Longview (7-11, 0-2) on Tuesday, and at Tyler (1515, 1-1) next Friday. Mount Pleasant will return to the friendly confines of Willie Williams Gym on Tuesday, September 27 versus Whitehouse.
