Lady Bulldogs fall to Avinger, Ore City; Bulldogs win over OC, Union Grove

Last week was a busy one on the hardwood at The Bluff as Harts Bluff readies for its first full varsity district schedule.

Harts Bluff ’s boys and girls played games on back to back days, though not on the same days.

The Lady Bulldogs kicked things off with a home matchup against Avinger. Harts Bluff started the game on fire with one of their strongest first half performances of the season.

Unfortunately, the Lady Indians finished stronger in the second half as Avinger claimed a 51-33 win over the Lady Bulldogs.

Thursday, Harts Bluff ’s squads hosted Ore City. The Lady Bulldogs came in short-handed with one player out visiting family for the holidays.

Harts Bluff took a 10-7 lead after the first quarter and trailed by one, 14-13, at the half. The Lady Bulldogs battled to keep things close, but the Lady Rebels closed the game with a 12-3 run in the fourth quarter to win, 32-19.

Perla Solorio led Harts Bluff with 10 points. Alexa Arzate added five and Allie Mayfield finished with four.

Brynn Richardson led Ore City with 10 points. Cara Coppedge put in seven and Tori Cummings scored five.

In the boys matchup, Ore City took a 7-3 lead after one as both teams started cold from the field. Harts Bluff outscored the Rebels in the final three quarters, 33-14, and took the 40-21 decision.

Ashyr Carrington led the Bulldogs with 24 points. Cohen Williams and Hunter Green both added four; Avyn Carrington and Kayden Mason each finished with three and Brayden Craddock put in two for the Bulldogs.

Maverick Main led the Rebels with eight points. Kyler Rowe finished with four and Blake Coppedge scored three.

The Bulldogs took on Union Grove Friday afternoon in their final game of 2022. Harts Bluff closed the year with a nine-point win over the Lions, 66-57.

The Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs traveled to take on Greenville Christian Tuesday. The Lady Bulldogs open district play Friday at home against James Bowie.
