Lady Brahmas in playoff position at end of first round of district

The Pewitt Lady Brahmas have battled in the first half of the district slate. With one match to go before the second round of district begins, the Lady Brahmas sit in fourth place behind Atlanta, New Boston and Hooks – the three teams to defeat them in loop play thus far. New Boston and Atlanta played Tuesday for sole possession of first place; the Lady Brahmas will return to the court Friday at Redwater.

The Lady Brahmas kicked off the district slate at Atlanta, falling in a tight four set match, 3-1 (25-22, 25-27, 11-25, 17-25). The team bounced back with a 3-1 win at DeKalb (25-22, 25-21, 17-25, 25-14) before claiming a five set win in a nailbiter against Queen City (25-21, 23-25, 25-14, 20-25, 15-13).

Unfortunately, Pewitt dropped their next two district games, falling 3-0 against New Boston (18-25, 19-25, 1425) and losing a tight match against Hooks, 3-2 (21-25, 25-16, 23-25, 25-17, 12-15).

After Friday’s game at Redwater, Pewitt gets two matches at home against Atlanta and DeKalb. The Lady Brahmas then travel to Queen City, New Boston and Hooks before concluding district play at home against Redwater.
