– Robert Frost, 1923 A rough year for the Pewitt Brahmas unfortunately continued Friday night as the Brahmas lost on the road at New Boston, 50-48.

The loss came despite the Brahmas finishing the game with 445 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on the ground. The turning point came on two-point conversions scored by the Lions and missed by the Brahmas in the third quarter. The Lions offense also had success, scoring on their first three drives of the game. The teams combined for 42 points in a frantic fourth quarter.

Keidrick Hawkins led Pewitt with 205 yards rushing and three touchdowns on the night. Hayden Green ran for 98 yards and threw for 92 yards, adding three twopoint conversions. K.D. Watson and Tavion Brown both scored rushing touchdowns and Isaac Hodges rushed for 84 yards. Kye Perry added two catches for 64 yards and James Byrd caught two passes for 28 yards.

Defensively, K.C. Watson finished with seven tackles, three tackles for loss and a forced fumble. Green finished with four stops and Byrd, Perry, Hodges, Jasean Cato, Bralyn Nix and Gage Smith all finished with three tackles. Brown and Colton Wilson both finished with two tackles and Champ Bailey added a stop.

In other district action, DeKalb defeated Prairiland, 61-0 and Redwater used a 27-0 run to beat Chisum, 41-14.

The Brahmas are off this week and will return to the gridiron Oct. 28 at home against Prairiland.
