Clean up your mess

As a child I would play in my sandbox for hours on end. I would have all my dolls lined up and make each one a “mud” pie. Then we would have a “mud meal.” After six hours of my fun, I was dirt from head to toe.

The man on the street held up the cardboard sign, waving it at the red light. I noticed from quite a distance back that the tall man was young enough to be my son—and seconds later, he launched the sign higher into the sky as more cars approached the intersection.

Patience is a virtue

“Sit down, be quiet, be patient.” My dear, sweet mother said this practically everyday. I got the “sit down” command down pat. As far as “be quiet” … well, not so much. And, sadly, now 60+ years later, I have to admit I never mastered being patient.
