You did it!
From My Perspective
You successfully completed your 13-year journey through a local school system. That is certainly something to be celebrated.
One of the first scriptures I memorized as a child was Psalm 23. It was a beautiful picture of what Jesus, as the Good Shepherd, does for each of us, His sheep. It wasn’t until the last few years that I fully came to appreciate its meaning.
Akey House education committee adjourned last week without voting on a school voucher bill that is Gov. Greg Abbott’s top priority this session, the Houston Chronicle reported. Barring some unforeseen maneuver in the last week of the regular legislative session, the bill is effectively dead for now.
It d tth t t b fl stopped at the store to buy some flowers during Mother’s Day week, hoping to pass them on the street to homeless friends. Now, I expected to see more men on my outing, but can’t you see the smiles from the guys who’d get one?
Financial Focus
Like everyone, you may have a lot of financial goals. But are they all of equal importance? Probably not. And do they share a similar timeline? Again, it’s unlikely. So, your first step may be to prioritize your goals — and then follow a process that can help you achieve them.
The creature I saw prowling around on my front porch last Tuesday afternoon was, without a shadow of a doubt, a hideous-looking Chupacabra.
Yes! I said Chupacabra. All seven-feet tall of it, by my estimation.
I was blessed to have parents who cared for their family. They each saw to it parents were cared for, housed and saw to all their needs until they passed. I loved spending time with my maternal grandparents (especially, my “Bom-Bom,” who was THE best cook in the world!).
I have been thinking a lot about families lately. I have seen friends deal with the loss of their father, and seen others deal with other types of losses. It has been nearly eight years since my daddy finished his battle with cancer. I am grateful I was able to be there at the very end with him.
“Oh, them golden slippers Oh, them golden slippers Golden slippers I’m a gonna wear To walk the golden street.”
— ‘Golden Slippers’ song lyrics by James Bland (1854 – 1911)
Bluegrass music came from across the way in downtown Nacogdoches Saturday when we walked out of Dolli’s Diner.
