Last week, just about everyone in our area watched as the stacks came down in one big heap out at once was Monticello. The plant that was once the harbinger of great things in Titus County and the surrounding counties is no longer. To so many the implosion was a sad day.

I like to think that we’re always growing. Maybe we are old enough to be done growing physically, but not mentally and emotionally. Every single day is a chance to grow and to change for the better. Nothing shows me my own growth more than Facebook memories. My Facebook account began in 2008.

I miss the old days when it was so easy to know when it was time to turn off the bedroom lights at night and drift down into peaceful slumber. I’d lay on my side, reading whatever book I was reading at the time, and if the book fell out of my hands and crashed to the floor, then it was time.

One night last summer, my wonderful husband, Tanner, decided to cook dinner for us. I had a very long day, and I was exhausted. I was so thankful for the help. He settled on making pan-seared tilapia, white cheddar macaroni, and blanched green beans. Sounds delicious, right?
