Wynelle (Atkins) Stamper

Wynelle (Atkins) Stamper, age 77, of Mount Pleasant, TX passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023, in Mount Pleasant, TX. She was born on February 28, 1946 in Bonham, TX to John Robert Atkins and Geneva Belle (Raines) Atkins.

Wynelle owned and operated a courier service for many years and also was a caregiver to the elderly later in life. She enjoyed playing tennis, cooking, eating, taking care of her animals, and singing. She and her four sisters had a singing group back in their high school days. They were known as “The Happy Street Girls” and recorded the song “Chocolate Kisses”. Wynelle was a wonderfully sweet and loving lady and will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, John & Geneva Atkins, Wynelle is preceded in death by her children, Renee Stamper and Stephen Stamper; sister, Margaret Atkins Scrivner; grandmother, Mamie Raines; niece, Tina (Linker) Johnson; great-nephew, Erin Bailey; and brothers-in-law, Richard Tafoya and Jay Green.

Left to cherish Wynelle’s memory is her loving family: twin sister and husband, Janelle & Robert Linker of Quitman, TX; sister, Diana Tafoya of Mount Pleasant, TX; sister and husband, Johnnie & Gaylon Cameron of Mount Pleasant, TX; and sister and husband, Janice & George Billings of Wills Point, TX; grandson and spouse, Bryan & Ashton Tafoya, and their children, Carson & Scarlett; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family.

A family led memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home.
