William Woodrow “Roe” Leatherwood

William Woodrow “Roe” Leatherwood, age 79, of Waynesville, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. Roe was born in Waynesville, NC on July 29, 1943, to the late Frank Jr. and Geneva McClure Leatherwood. He enjoyed woodworking, spending time with his grandchildren, listening to Bluegrass and Gospel Music, eating sweets and good cold cut sandwich. Roe was a very good friend to a lot of people. He was kind and generous and never met a stranger, “by crackey”. He had special love for the Exceptional Children at Waynesville Middle School.

Roe is survived by his loving wife, Janice Smathers; daughter, Sharron Ann Teelon (Mike); sons, Robert (Frances) and Brian (Naomi); grandchildren, Cassidy and Elizabeth, William Seth, Quentin, Kevin, and Elisabeth; great-grandchildren, Tristan, Brianna, Eleanor, Issac; sister, Martha Ann Franklin; and brother, Walter Leatherwood.
