William Barrett

Funeral service for William Barrett, 81, of Mt. Pleasant, will be 1:00 P.M Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Sunset Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant. Burial in Denton Cemetery, Mt. Vernon under the direction of Tumey Mortuary. He died November 14, 2023.

William was born in Mt. Vernon, Texas on October 22, 1942 to Fletcher and Dolly Barrett. He was a 1961 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School Mt. Pleasant. He was a member of Sunset Baptist Church and retired from Cotton Belt Railroad after 37 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Anna Jo Barrett; daughters Tera Barrett and Toni Harris, brother Richard Barrett, special friend Kathy Johnson.

He is survived by his children Rena Douglas (Kenneth), Anthony Barrett (Willie Mae), Mattie Traylor, Ted Connally, Beverly Grundy, Lashandra Hargrave (Billy), Stacey Nixon (Brian), Tracy Craig (Telesa) all of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, Terry Connally (Elsa) of Florida, Joanie Hudson (Hughey) of Cleburne, Texas; 26 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren; sister-in-law Linda Barrett of Mt. Vernon; family friend Jennifer Brownlee; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends.
