George Daniel Swofford, age 82, passed away on May 3, 2021. He was born on October 19, 1938 in Titus County to Ernest Alford and Corine Hughes Swafford. Mr. Swofford served in the U.S. Navy for 19 years, 3 months and 17 days and retired from Texas Utilities.
He is survived by his wife Sandra Swofford of Mt. Pleasant, daughters; Sue Stewart of Mt. Pleasant, Kim Milner and Jimmie of Greenville, Christine and Troy Anderton, II of Mt Pleasant, Danielle and Jack White, Jr of Mt Pleasant, Elizabeth and Matthew Whorton of Hallsville, Carrie Jones of Mt. Pleasant, 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, brother; Ricky and Ruth Swafford of Mt. Pleasant, sister and brother-in-law; Carol and Arnold Oikle of Uxbridge, MA, sisters-in-law; Donna Mello of Whitinsville, MA, Deborah Gray of Manchaug, MA, Marie Henderson of Linwood, MA, Dorothy Nedoroscik and husband Joseph of Douglas, MA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents; Ernest and Corine Swafford, brothers; J.C. and Emory Swafford, sister-in-law; Pearl Swafford, father, and mother-in-law; Herbert and Olvia Henderson, sister-in-law; Wanda Swafford, uncle: Bill Henderson, brothers-in-law; Paul Mellow, Sr, Vick Vecchione, George Henderson Sr.
Funeral service will be 2:00 pm on Monday, May 10, 2021, at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Cline and Rev. Jan Rester officiating. Burial will follow at Old Union Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Sunday, May 9, 2021 from 6-8:00 pm.
