Irma Jean, age 95 of Mt. Vernon, Tx, went to be with Jesus Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021. She was born June 18, 1926, to Thomas Melton and Minnie Aura Withrow Hargis at home in Tira Texas.
She was a member of First Christian Church Mt. Pleasant, Tx.
Jean was best known as longtime head cook at Mt. Pleasant County Club. Everyone loved her pies and dressing. Jean had many careers as she worked at Andes Kwik Way Door Factory, Holiday Inn, Winfield Truck Stop, Grandma’s Fried Chicken and a bookkeeper for various places in Mt Pleasant.
She was an animal lover, especially her cat Baby.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents and sister Melverne Glosup.
She is survived by children Thomas and Tavie Spivey, Debbie and Jay Castle, Mike and Cindy Smith, Almie and Kathy Smith, Curtis and Paula Smith, Ronnie and Brenda Smith, 18 Grandchildren, 40 Great Grandchildren and 11 Great Great Grandchildren and a loving niece Jackie Verne Bowling.
Jean was most proud of her family and loved them all dearly! Everyone that knew Jean loved her.
