Margaret Ann Caldwell Spann

Margaret Ann Caldwell Spann was born on February 16, 1930 in Titus County to Frank Minor Caldwell and Clara Arnold Caldwell. She was a lifetime Titus County resident. Margaret passed away on June 25, 2026 surrounded by her family. Graduating from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1946, she worked at several jobs including: American Liberty Oil refinery, Soil Conservation Services, and was employed for over thirty years at First National Bank and its successors. Margaret graduated from SMU School of Banking in Trust and was the bank’s Trust Officer at the time of retirement.

She joined the Greenhill Presbyterian Church at the age of twelve, but had been a member of First Presbyterian Church, Mt. Pleasant since 1960. Her service to the church included: Sunday School teacher, choir member, deacon, elder, treasurer, member of Presbyterian Women, and Wednesday Bible Study group. Church had been an important part of her life since childhood.

Margaret married Alvin Loyd Spann on June 13, 1947. Sadly, Alvin passed away in 2001. Alvin and Margaret had three children: Karen Kay, Roger Caldwell (Jan), and Stephen Bruce (Kathy). She also raised a granddaughter, Kristi Hall (Summer), whom she loved and considered her own. Other grandchildren: Kim Hall Shultz (Gary), Eric Spann, Adam Spann (Laura), Clint Spann (Ancella), Stephen Spann (Kerri). Great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Ethan, Izzy, Lucy, Eli, Andy, Katelyn, Londyn, Ayrton, and Parker.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard (Dick) Caldwell.

Graveside services will be Saturday, June 27th, at 10 am at Forest Lawn and Celebration of Life and Witness to the Resurrection service at 11 am at First Presbyterian Church (401 North Madison). In lieu of flowers, donations could be made to the First Presbyterian Church, PO Box 1114, Mt. Pleasant, Texas 75456 for Greenhill restoration.
