Louis Edwin Tallant

June 21, 1944 – Sept. 28, 2024

Longtime Mt. Pleasant resident, Louis Tallant, passed away September 28, 2024 after a brief illness.

He was born to Bessie and Marvin Tallant of Winthrop, Arkansas on June 21, 1944.

After moving to Mt.

Pleasant in the late 70’s, he opened Sunrise Printing on Madison St. and served the community until Northeast Texas Community College made him an offer that he could not refuse. At that time, he became the 18th employee for NTCC in January 1985. He was an instrumental part of the early development of NTCC and established the graphics department until he retired in August, 2011.

He made his home on Lake Bob Sandlin where he loved to fish and grow beautiful flower gardens. He traveled extensively during his retirement years and “imported” many varieties of flowers, shrubs and trees from all over the world.

Louis is survived by his long-time love and traveling partner, Doris Humphrey, his son Louis Tallant II and wife Betty, son Jeffrey Tallant and wife Haylee, grandkids, Madison, Nick, Cooper and Brooks Tallant. He is also survived by his brother, Melvin and wife JoAnn Tallant of Winthrop, Arkansas, brother Olan Tallant of Albuquerque, NM, brother, Garland and wife Mary Tallant of Horatio, Arkansas, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Vernon Tallant.

Louis formed many lasting friendships during his life and those friends will truly miss him. Per his request, he will be rejoined with his parents at a private graveside service at a later date.
