Lewis Edwin Barrett, age 91, passed from this life to his Eternal Home on March 31, 2023 in Mount Pleasant, TX. He was born on October 7, 1931 in Mount Pleasant, TX to Jim Wilson BarrettandPearl(Slone)Barrett.

Lewis was a long-time member of Highland Park Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant. He was a graduate of the MPHS Class of 1949. Prior to his retirement, Lewis was employed in retail management, having worked at Gibson’s Discount Center and Beall’s Department Store as manager. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and Lions Club. He was a Mess Sergeant in the 1950s in the National Guard. Lewis was an accomplished pilot and enjoyed flying planes, fishing, raising cattle, and working on rental properties he owned.

In addition to his parents, Lewis is preceded in death by his first wife, Lola Belle (Richey) Barrett in 2006 and second wife, Kathleen (Banks) Browning Barrett in 2016; brothers, Bobby Barrett and Jackie Barrett; and sister, Saundra Efurd.

Left to cherish Lewis’ memory is his loving family: sons and daughters-in-law, David & Lynne Barrett of Mount Pleasant, TX and Daniel & Paddy Barrett of Whitehouse, TX; grandchildren: Scott & Kara Barrett of Flint, TX; Julie Hess of Orlando, FL; Hillary & Iurie Corjos of Springfield, MO; Mitchell Barrett of Whitehouse TX; and Corey Barrett of Whitehouse, TX; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 greatgreat- grandchild; sister-in-law, Inga Barrett of Mount Pleasant, TX; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and other extended family.

Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Highland Park Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, TX. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at Highland Park Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, TX with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Lewis’ memory be made to either Maranatha International Volunteers at www.maranatha.org or to American Family Association at www.afa.net.
