Laura Stroud, 63, passed away peacefully at the Faith Presbyterian Hospice Inpatient House in Dallas, Texas on February 6, 2023. She was born October 22, 1959, in Bonham, Texas to JL and Dottie Stroud. She spent her childhood in Bonham, Mart, and finally Mount Vernon, Texas.

While living in Mart, Laura developed both her tennis and twirling skills. Later as a student at Mount Vernon High School she was a three year cheerleader, serving as head cheerleader during her senior year. Laura was also voted Homecoming Queen, All School Favorite, Outstanding Female Tennis Award, as well as participating in numerous other extracurricular activities. She was a member of the 1978 graduating class.

Following graduation Laura attended and graduated with a nursing degree from East Texas State University. She enjoyed a long career in nursing, as a floor nurse and in numerous management positions.

Laura was preceded in death by her father JL, brother Jimmie, and beloved Corgi Hobson. She leaves to cherish her memory her mother Dottie Stroud, husband Roger Jenkins, stepsons Ryan and Reid Jenkins, brother Ricky Stroud and wife Brenda, numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and beloved Corgi mix Harry.

A Graveside service will be held 10:00am Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery. The family extends heartfelt love and gratitude for the many caregivers at Faith Presbyterian Hospice for their loving care.
