Laura Sue (Mangum) Jones, age 84, of Bonham, TX was born on March 30, 1937, in Mount Pleasant, TX to Robert E. Mangum, Sr. and Margaret Josephine (Riddle) Mangum. She joined her heavenly father on Thursday, August 26, 2021, during her stay at Seven Oaks Nursing Center.

Laura Jones married John Charles Jones on June 5, 1992, in Bonham, Texas. John preceded her in death on June 23, 2014, and her daughter, Sherri Lynn Atkins, also preceded her in death on May 26, 2015. Prior to marrying John, Laura worked as an apartment manager in Longview and Addison, Texas. Laura grew up in Mt. Pleasant. After high school she lived in Longview, TX for many years and later in Addison, TX where she met John. She made many lifelong friends everywhere she lived, and in particular in the Bonham and Ector area after she married John. Upon their marriage in 1992, they purchased a home and ranch in Ector and thereafter raised Black Angus cattle throughout their marriage. Laura even continued running the ranch by herself after John passed away. Laura and John were well suited for each other and had a wonderful life with many friends in the Bonham and Ector area. Laura was an avid gardener, a member of the civics club, and a member of a wonderful book club in Bonham, which she enjoyed so much throughout the years. Laura is a member of First Baptist Church of Bonham, Texas.

Laura is survived by her brother, Robert E. Mangum, Jr. and wife Joanne of Plano, Texas; stepson, Jason Jones and wife Kimberley and their sons Jackson and Keaton of Bartonville, Texas; stepson Jeff Paxton Jones and grandson, Phillip Jones and wife Rachel and their children Jaicee and Jett of Tyler, Texas; and grandson, Calvin Taylor and wife Ydaner and their daughter Ashrielle Jubilee of Athens, Texas.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, at the First Baptist Church of Bonham. Bro. Ken Ussery will officiate. Interment will be held at Carson Cemetery, Ector TX. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service starting at 10 a.m.
