John “Larry” Zimmerman of Mount Pleasant, TX passed away at his home on June 25, 2023. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 2820 W. Ferguson Rd, Mt. Pleasant, TX. com. Larry was born May 18, 1941 in Olathe, KS to Harry and Harriet (Moore) Zimmerman. He and his brother and sister grew up on a dairy farm. He went to the Navy in 1962, and after completing his naval service, married Esther Nord (Manhattan, KS) on July 3, 1965. He was employed by Xerox Corporation in the Kansas City area as a technical representative and retired after 38 years.

He and his wife and three daughters were members of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Olathe where he was very active in youth ministry and choir. He and his wife built their lives around their family and church. He volunteered his time to Pathway To Hope, an organization in Olathe that suppports families facing mental illnesses.

In 2019 he and his wife moved to Mt. Pleasant,TX to be near their daughters. He is survived by his wife of the home and daughters Marcie Zimmerman (Krum, TX), Christie Zimmerman Lynch and husband Randal (Mount Pleasant, TX), and Jenny Zimmerman (Mt. Pleasant, TX). He is survived by his brother LeMoyne Zimmerman and wife Donalie (Overland Park, KS) and his brother-in-law Warren Kitzman (Bonner Springs,KS). He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Deloris Kitzman. He leaves behind grandson Michael Lynch (Sanger, TX), grandaughter Kelsey Lynch Atkins and husband Michael (Leander, TX), nieces, nephews and their families plus many cousins and friends. Larry will be dearly missed by family and friends.
