After a long struggle with multiple health issues, James Kenneth Clay, Jr passed away on Thursday, December 15th at 7:50pm at Hospice of East Texas, Tyler. He was 73 years old. Even though his friends & colleagues knew him as Ken, his family knew him best as Daddy & Papa. His family takes great comfort in knowing that he is pain free as they imagine him being greeted by Jesus & the love of his life, Shirley (Guillemin) Clay. He graduated high school from Mount Pleasant, Texas.
Ken Clay was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, his parents James Kenneth & Marilyn (Boyd) Clay, & grandparents Rufus & Lessie Mae Boyd. He is survived by his eldest daughter Tammy & Vince Hendricksmeyer of Mount Vernon, daughter Michelle & Ben Baker of Longview; grandchildren, Holli Freeland & Stephanie Futch (both of Longview), Bradley Futch of Sulphur Springs serving in the Army, Raquel Mckinney of Union South Carolina, Daniel & Decker Hendricksmeyer of Mt Vernon, Bella & Scarlet Baker; great grand kids Lakeirra, Legend, Damon, & Kingston; sister-in-law & brother-in-law Gail (Shirley’s sister) & Richard McCormick of Redding, California.
A Memorial Service will be at Weaver Baptist Church, 8849 US HWY 67E Saltillo, TX 75478 on Monday Dec 26th at 4pm. A memorial page can be viewed at Hilliard Funeral Home in Van, Tx. In Lieu of Flowers, please send donations to weaverbaptistchurch. org in honor of Ken’s service to this community.
