Harry Robert Whitsel, Sr.

Harry Robert Whitsel, Sr., age 74, of Cookville, Texas, passed from this life to his Heavenly Home on Friday, March 3, 2023, in Tyler, Texas.

He was born on December 19, 1948 in Dayton, Ohio to Robert Roscoe Whitsel and Callie Idel (Morrow) Whitsel.

Harry was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Cookville, Texas. He was a carpenter and worked in construction for Mega Construction and Fluor Daniels at Texas Utilities prior to his retirement. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, horseshoeing, and spending time outdoors. However, his greatest joy was spoiling his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, Robert and Callie Whitsel, Harry is preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Roberta & Ray Lokker.

Left to cherish Harry’s memory is his loving family: wife, Shirley (Smith) Whitsel of Cookville, Texas; son: Harry Whitsel, Jr. of Cookville, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Danny & Crystal Whitsel of Gassville, Arkansas; daughters and sons-in-law, Machell & Chris Borg of DeKalb, Texas and Karen & J.R. Branson of Mount Pleasant, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Bob & Betty Whitsel of Mount Pleasant, Texas; brother, John Whitsel of Winnsboro, Texas; and sister and brother- in-law, Donna & Bob McMann of Dayton, Ohio. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 3 greatgreat grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
