Ellis Marshall Moore, of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, passed away on March 24, 2024 at his residence. He was born on July 8, 1924 in Clarksville, Texas to Albert & Della (Butler) Moore.

Mr. Moore retired from Lone Star Steel Company after 28 years, but continued working in retirement by fulfilling his dream of owning his own business when he owned and operated several Diet Centers and eventually opened Moore’s Camper Sales. He was very successful selling RV’s and working for himself and enjoyed meeting the public. Even in retirement he continued working by tending his garden every year and growing his prized tomatoes, taking care of his 4 acres, and even continued mowing his place even at the age of 99.

Mr. Moore proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Augusta as a Gunner during World War II. The USS Augusta was a heavy cruiser and was President Truman’s flagship. He was proud to be a part of the ship that carried President Truman around the world on his many presidential trips. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, former deacon, and a member of Masonic Temple Lodge #70.

He is survived by his brother, Burl Moore; son, Glenn E. Moore and wife Janis; grandson Ryan Moore, and granddaughter Meagan Villa and husband Dakota; grandson Jarod Moore, wife Molly, great grandson Austin, and great granddaughter Lindsay; granddaughter Melanie Pietrzak and husband Devin, great granddaughter Liberty, great grandson Ledger; granddaughter Kelley Tammen and husband Skip, granddaughter Amanda Moore, granddaughter Summer Jones and husband Cody; as well as cousins, nephews, and nieces. He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Sue Moore, daughter Linda Ann Moore; and brother, Wade Moore, along with half-brothers and half-sisters.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:21 A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Saturday, March 30, 2024 at Bates, Cooper, and Sloan Chapel with services to follow at 2:00 PM. Interment will be held at the Forest Lawn Cemetery.
