David Conger Young, Jr. was born February 9th, 1948 in Conroe, Texas and passed away April 6th, 2022 in his home in Mount Pleasant, Texas at the age of 74. He was born February 9th, 1948 in Conroe, Texas to David Conger Young, Sr. and Cassie Pauline Dillard Young. David married his beloved wife Laura Brandenburg in 1995. David was an active member of the Worldwide Association of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Mount Pleasant, Texas. He had a large spiritual family that he was very close to, and enjoyed spending time in the ministry with.
David had an extensive career as a Roadmaster with the railroad that took him all over the country. He was happy to retire and spend time enjoying country life, in his home state of Texas, with his wife Laura Young. A man of few words with a dry sense of humor, and an appreciation for solitude, he loved spending time hunting, fishing, cooking, and taking care of his cattle. He was a talented woodworker and especially adored spending time with his precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren. And he also loved his dog Bruiser.
In addition to his parents, David is preceded in death by two sisters: Bobbie Jean Tillman and Patsy Nunnally.
Left to cherish David’s memory is his beloved wife Laura. Also, his dear sisters: Virginia Young of Texas, and Doris and her husband Buddy Parker from Texas.
Also his eight children: Tammy Young from Texas, Shawn and husband Andre Starks from Texas, Sandra Allison and her husband Keith from Texas, and Amy Marshall from Ohio. Also, his sons Nathan Young from California, Shawn Young and his fiancee Lucie Sutherland from Oregon, Matthew Young and fiancee Lisa Mack from California, and Nicholas and wife Allie from Nevada.
Also left to cherish his memory, are his 18 grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Bates-Cooper-Sloan funeral home in Mount Pleasant, Texas. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
