Cary “Butch” Driscoe Cox, of Cookville TX, made his journey to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2021 peacefully at his home.

A memorial service in his honor will be held on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2021 at 10 a.m. at the Curry-Welborn Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant.

Cary was born on June 20, 1949 in Coleman, TX, to Edwin and Odell “Woods” Cox.

He married Norma Taylor on June 20, 1989 in Mt Pleasant TX and was a retired mechanic for TXU-Luminant. He loved the outdoors, he was an avid fisherman and hunter. His greatest joy was being with his bride, Norma, and their furbabbies, Pete and Sammy. He was a voracious fan of NASCAR.

He is survived by his wife Norma Taylor-Cox of Cookville TX, his son, Byron Cox and wife Janet of McKinney TX, and daughter Melanie Gutierrez and husband Joseph of San Antonio TX., Grandchildren; Ketelyn Cox, Carolyn Cox, Kamryn Gutierrez, Allyson Gutierrez, Morgan Gutierrez, and Meagan Gutierrez, he is also survived by his brothers; Edwin Cox Jr. and Wayne Cox, his sisters; Judy Wright and husband Colton, Sherri Franklin and husband Billy, his brother in law, Jimmie Davis and wife Jackie, and nieces and nephews; Nicole and Jay Jones, Chase and Keva Wright, Cassi and Ty Walden, Selby Franklin, and Logan Franklin, Brad and Courtney Davis, Campbell Davis and Claire Davis.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Edwin and Odell Cox.

A special and heartfelt “Thank you” goes to our family, friends, and neighbors for showing their love during our difficult time. Becky, Martha and Ed, Thank you!
