Clifford Ray McKelvey of Mount Pleasant, Texas, passed away on October 15, 2025. Ray was born to parents Thomas and Verna (Taylor) McKelvey on May 20, 1940 in Mount Pleasant, Texas.
Ray alongside his wife, Mary Ellen, and sons in 1977 began McKelvey Enterprises and instilled the importance of giving back to the community. This business is now a third-generation business run by his son, Dale, and grandson, Jacob. Ray was a well-respected and beloved businessman in the northeast Texas area and will be greatly missed by all who were privileged to know him.
Ray is survived by his wife, Diane McKelvey, of Mount Pleasant; son and daughter-in-law, Dale & Sheila McKelvey of Mount Pleasant; son and daughter-in-law, Anthony & Kellye Cooper of Mount Pleasant; son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Tammy Cooper of Mount Pleasant; daughter, Crystal Cooper of Mount Pleasant; and sister and brother-in-law, Suzanne & Dr. Jerry Skidmore of Mount Pleasant; grandchildren: Natalie & Jon Zeigler of Goose Creek, South Carolina; Jacob & Marlea McKelvey of Mount Pleasant; Richard & Danielle Durham of Henrietta, Texas; and Dr. Brittany & Jay Senn of Mount Pleasant. In addition, he is survived by his great-grandchildren: Ella Zeigler; Claire Zeigler; Madison McKelvey; Mark McKelvey; Stella Durham; Addison Senn; and Declan Senn.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas & Verna McKelvey; first wife, Mary Ellen McKelvey; son, Sherrill McKelvey; and brother, Joe Max McKelvey.
