The funeral ceremony to honor Billy John Jones will take place at Curry-Welborn funeral home on Monday, April 3, 2023, starting at 2 pm. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Following the funeral service, interment will be held at Farmers Academy cemetery.
Billy John Jones, aged 76, of Cookville, Texas, peacefully passed away on March 29, 2023, in Dallas, Texas, with his family by his side. He was born in Mount Pleasant, Tx, and graduated in the class of 1965.
He worked and retired from Kwik-Way Door Corporation after 33 years as Plant Superintendent, broke and trained horses, and ran his wholesale tractor equipment company. He enjoyed going to breakfast with his group of friends every morning, followed by a daily trip to the barbershop to visit with friends and everyone who came through the door. He never met a stranger anywhere he went and was always good for telling a story, life advice, and a good laugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alma Holcomb Jones and Garland Jones and one sister, Francis Robertson. He is survived by his sister, Margaret Neeley, and brother-in-law, Alvie Neeley, his daughter Tammie Tigert and son-in-law Robbie Tigert, son John Jones, grandchildren Dalton Lyons, Theron Tigert, and Arenia Tigert, grandson as well as best friend, Garrett Lyons, and several nieces and nephews.
He was loved dearly by his family and will be greatly missed by all.
