Betsy Brown Martin, 80, went home to her Lord and family this Saturday night, surrounded by her family at home.

Betsy was born December 27, 1942, in Pittsburg, Texas, to William W. Looney and Ruby Lee Davis Looney. She attended Pittsburg High School, where she was a majorette, Band sweetheart, Homecoming Queen and very well thought of in school. After graduation, she married the love of her life, William R. “Bill” Brown on December 30, 1961.

Over the years she raised her children and owned the Mt. Pleasant Roller Rink with Bill. After Bill passed away on November 6, 1999, she continued to own and manage the skating rink with her family. After retirement, she met and married Curtis W. Martin on June 13, 2013.

Betsy enjoyed traveling with friends and family. She loved family gatherings in her home at holiday time where she could visit will her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betsy was always very elegant in her dress and humbleness. She was a long time member of Nevills Chapel Baptist Church, where she remained active until she could no longer attend regular services.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William W. Looney and Ruby Lee Baird; her first husband, William R. “Bill” Brown; an infant son, Michael Gregg Brown; a grandson, Justin Lee Bragg and sisters, Kay Adams and Brenda Watson.

She is survived by her husband, Curtis W. Martin; a son, Kenneth Brown and wife, Shonda; daughters, Diane Rowe, Debbie Stansbury and husband, Todd; sisters, Judy Peterson and husband, Johnny, Ginger Young and husband, Billy; nine grandchildren, Amber Jacks and husband, Bobby Paul, Lance Rowe, Kayla Berrier and husband, Jason, Linsey Delaney and husband, Staten, Hayden Stansbury and wife, Kaylee, Kensey Macek and husband, Brad, Kandace Brown and special friend, Brian, Cody Stansbury and wife, Ashley, Luke Rowe and wife, Britni; great grandchildren, Emma Jacks, Leighton Berrier, Porter Berrier, Landon Rowe, Reid Delaney, Ryder Delaney, Renn Delaney, Kayson Stansbury, soon to come, Maisie Stansbury, Kylie Macek, Kate Macek, Tucker Sstansbury and Austin Rowe.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Thursday, January 5, 2023 at the Nevills Chapel Baptist Church with services to follow at 11:00 AM The family wishes to thank Vicki Waldrum & Accent Care Hospice for their special care for Betsy during her illness.
