Barbara S. Johnson, born October 29, 1951, was called home by our Lord on June 30, 2022 in San Antonio, Texas.
Barbara was a proud graduate of Mount Pleasant High School with many lifelong friends she has stayed in touch with. She also is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and a loyal Longhorn supporter. Barbara may be late for some things but for a Longhorn event she arrives early. Barbara, being a Medical Technologist, eventually moved from actively working in a clinical environment to the management of the Waco branch of Clinical Pathology Laboratories where she spent over twenty successful years before retiring. In recent years she has been an active member of Community Bible Church in San Antonio. As a warm and caring individual Barbara was loved and well respected among her church family. Those that had the privilege to have known Barbara would agree that she was a kind person that saw good in everyone and would do anything to help where she was needed. She was a positive influence on those around her with her optimistic personality and genuine love for people.
Barbara is survived by her sister Judy Hough and husband Jim, nephew Justin Hough and his wife Tiffany, grand-nephews Knox and Kase Hough whom she adored. Also, her cousins Dena Dore and husband Wayne, Amanda and Josh Dore of Lake Charles. She was preceded in death by her parents Jim Hayes and Evelyn Maxine Johnson and brother Paul Hayes Johnson all of Mount Pleasant.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 8, 2022 at the Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Chapel with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
