The 2024 Mount Pleasant Tiger football squad will begin their season in earnest travelling to Crandall Friday, Aug. 30 at 7:00 p.m. The Tigers will compete in District 7 – 5A, Division II
This year’s squad, led by head coach Joe Cluley, is packed with seven returning starters on offense, four on defense and a strong crop of underclassmen seeking playing time and a playoff berth.
On offense, returning all but one offensive linemen from ’23 should help the skill position players put points on the board and control the ball with a solid run attack. Cluley has high hopes for a more physical defense too for that side of the ball, along with speed to gang tackle opponents.
Tigers to watch in ’24 are: OL Johnathon Amieva (6-3, 255), OL Corben Craig (5-0, 260), DL Ayden Johnson (6-3, 308), RB Tony Jones (5-8, 175, 4.5), DB/WR Decorian Thompson (5-11, 170, 4.4), LB Ashad Smith (6-1,180, 4.6), DB Carter Cook (5-11, 180, 4.6)WR Brandon Brannon (5-8, 175, 4.5), as well DL Nehemiah Savage, OL Tyland Jones, OL Evan Cota, PK Alberto Avila and P Gerardo Chavez.
