David Garrison Witherspoon, 50, of Mount Pleasant, Texas left this earth for his Heavenly Home on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at his residence. He was born on October 22, 1973 in Galveston, Texas to Dr. Robert G. Witherspoon, Jr. and Susan (Meador) Witherspoon.
In his professional life, he operated his own loan business for a time but was in auto sales for most of his career. He was employed at Elliott Auto Group at the time of his passing. He enjoyed raising cattle. He coached Little League football for a number of years. First and foremost, he was a dedicated father who enjoyed spending time with his children and taking them to sporting activities and practices. He was their greatest fan. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
David is survived by his loving family: son, Dawson Witherspoon of Mount Vernon, Texas; daughter, Lana Witherspoon of Mount Vernon, Texas; stepchildren: Destin Steinmetz of Fayetteville, Arkansas and Madison Steinmetz of Austin, Texas; mother, Susan Witherspoon of Mount Pleasant, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Scott & Olivia Witherspoon of Fort Worth, Texas; brother, Paul Witherspoon of Bethesda, Maryland; sister and brother-in-law, Laura & Mark Day of El Dorado, Arkansas; mother of his children, Chrisana Witherspoon, as well as other extended family and friends.
David is preceded in death by his father, Dr. Robert G. Witherspoon, Jr.
A visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, January 2, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Trinity Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, Texas. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
