Sandra Sue “Susie” Crane Issing

Sandra Issing passed from life here on earth into the arms of her loving Savior Jesus Christ on September 6, 2023. Sandra was a woman of faith, family and friends and referred to by all as an “honest, kind, generous and honorable lady.”

Sandra was born in Pittsburg, Texas on August 9, 1944, to her loving parents Earl Horace Crane and Jonice Colley Crane. Sandra grew up in Mount Pleasant, Texas, where she made and kept many life-long friends. She graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1962. Sandra then attended Texas A&M University Commerce and Texas A&M University Texarkana graduating from Texas A&M University Texarkana in 1966 with a Bachelor of Business Administration.

After graduation, Sandra worked for Addison Wesley Publishing Company in Menlo Park, California for six years before returning to Texas as a consultant for the Texas Region VIII Education Service Center. Sandra later joined TXU Energy working in the Dallas Corporate Office as a financial accountant until retiring in 2004. Following her retirement, Sandra moved to Boon, North Carolina to be near family. She returned to Mount Pleasant in 2011 to provide support for her mother.

Sandra’s unwavering compassion, dedication and generous support to Northeast Texas Community College has helped to provide a path to education which has profoundly enriched the lives of many students in our community. Sandra was a cherished friend and a true inspiration to many in the NTCC family. Her legacy of kindness and support has and continues to impact the college and our community.

Sandra’s greatest love was her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Donald C. Issing; parents Horace Crane and Jonice Colley Crane; grandparents Earl Crane and Lola Mae Crane and Johnny Franklin Colley and Effie Lou Colley; uncles Dick Crane, Eugene Crane, Dick Wiley and aunt Bettie Marie Crane. Susie also wanted to recognize three of her special classmates that went on before her: John Castle, James Morgan and James Smith.

She is survived by her three stepchildren Tom Issing (wife Ellen) and Nancy McGuire (husband Bill) from New York City and Kathline McGuire from Columbus, Ohio; aunts Betty Colley Wiley of Carlsbad, New Mexico and Audrey Crane Nall of El Cajon, California; nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous cousins.

Sandra and her family extend heartfelt thanks to Gricel Garrett for all her support and loving care over the past 12 years and to her team Gabriela Lampar, Ruth Corona & Nubia Corona.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Mount. Pleasant, Texas. A private family graveside service will be held at Bridges Chapel Cemetery after the funeral.
