Janis LaPrade, 77, of Mount Pleasant, Texas passed peacefully from this life to her Heavenly Home on August 21, 2023 in Mount Pleasant. She was born on January 29, 1946 in Pittsburg, Texas to Allen LaPrade and Margaret (Allen) LaPrade.
Janis was a longtime member of Tennison Memorial United Methodist Church. Prior to her retirement, she had been a clerical worker and a little later a Certified Nurse’s Aide at Titus Regional Medical Center. She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers, grocery shopping and cooking – whipping up anything from scratch she could find in her pantry, listening to music, and anything Elvis Presley. She adored her pets and animals in general. She was a very generous woman who had a big heart and enjoyed bestowing gifts on others. She was happiest when she could make others laugh and smile. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Janis is preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Margaret LaPrade, and by her brother, Bobby LaPrade.
Due to the extreme heat, a graveside service will be held at the Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. also at Bates-Cooper-Sloan Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be in the Bridges Chapel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers and in honor of Janis’ love of animals, donations in Janis’ memory should be made to Mount Pleasant Animal Control, 300 Enterprise Blvd., Mount Pleasant, TX 75455.
