Tigers drop district matchups to Longview, Marshall

It was a tough week for the Mount Pleasant Tiger baseball team, despite playing both their district matchups at O.L. Colley FIeld.

The Tigers started the week against Longview, but the Lobos got off to a fast start to negate Mount Pleasant’s strong finish in an 11-5 decision. The Tigers outscored Longview in the last two innings, 4-1, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Lobos’ 10-1 run to start the game.

Jake Noble and Kortland Stovall each struck out three from the mound. Jayden Tarrent added a strikeout.

Mason McMinn finished 3-3 with a double and a run scored. Drew Dyke finished with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Braiden Merriman added an RBI and scored a run. Colby Porter and Will Luck also had hits and Tarrant and Bennett Wall scored runs.

The Tigers looked to bounce back against Marshall but fell just short on a cold night, 4-0.

Despite the loss, Dyke and Noble combined to hold the Mavericks to three hits and struck out nine – Dyke with five and Noble with four.

Porter had two hits while Luck and Tarrent each finished with a hit.

The Tigers traveled to Hallsville Tuesday and will host Whitehouse Friday.
