After a successful season on the hardwood at Chapel Hill that saw one team advance to the region II championship game and saw another win 29 consecutive games, the coaches of District 13-3A recognized the Red Devils and Lady Devils with the release of the all-district teams Monday.
The Lady Devils were recognized with two district superlative awards. Senior Katie Hart and junior Mackenzie Espinosa were named district co-Offensive Players of the Year. Junior Abigail Thrapp was named Newcomer of the Year.
Named first team all-district was junior Kaylee Tompkins. Making second team all-district was junior Madison Manning. Sophomore Keira Hawkins was named honorable mention.
Named academic all-district were Espinosa, Hart, Hawkins, Manning, Thrapp and Tompkins.
On the boys’ side, the District MVP was junior Braden Buchanan. Junior Adrian Ramirez was named Sixth Man of the Year. Head Coach David Schmitt was named Coach of the Year.
Named first team all-district were junior Jaydyn Haley and senior Casey House. Second team all-district was sophomore Isaac Bailey. Honorable mention players were junior Anthony Ramirez and senior C.J. Kump.
The Lady Devils finished 29-9 with a final state ranking of 21st in 3A.
The Red Devils finished 33-3 with a final state ranking of ninth.
