Ronald Slayton “Ronnie” Russell, age 82, passed from this life to his Eternal Home on January 21, 2023 in Pittsburg, Texas. He was born on December 2, 1940 in Titus County, Texas to Vernon “R.V.” Russell and Katherine (Slayton) Russell.
Ronnie was a member of Saint Andrew United Methodist Church and a veteran of the Texas Army Reserve National Guard. He was a graduate of East Texas State University in Commerce, TX. He was employed as a sales supervisor over sales and research of farm chemicals. He was also a rancher who enjoyed raising Charolais cattle. He loved sports and quail hunting. He was a league baseball coach for many years and an avid UT Longhorns sports fan.
Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish Ronnie’s memory is his loving family: wife, Betty (Davis) Russell of Mount Pleasant, TX; son, Ty & wife Valerie Russell of Boise, Idaho; stepchildren: Debbie & Scott Henderson of Gladewater, TX; Rocky Warren of Lindale, TX; Sonya & Randy Mc-Coy of Hideaway Lake, TX; and Tammie & Michael Eaton of Austin, TX; grandchildren: Shelby & wife Rosline Henderson; Colby & wife Corinna Henderson, Hanna Warren, Clay McCoy, Emma & husband Tatum Kinard, Addison Leal, and Oliver Eaton; and great-grandchild, Adelynn Henderson.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2023, at Highland Park Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, TX. Interment will follow in Greenhill Cemetery.
