Titus County Farm Bureau is sponsoring a garage sale fundraiser to benefit Communities In Schools (CIS) of Northeast Texas. Donations are now being accepted. You can help by dropping off any new or gently used item you wish to donate to the garage sale at the Titus County Farm Bureau office located at 1607 S. Jefferson Avenue in Mount Pleasant.
Communities In Schools of Northeast Texas provides intensive, case-managed services to more than 3,800 students in 12 school districts on 41 campuses throughout the local area. CIS of Northeast Texas exists to help the children overcome obstacles that can become barriers to their success. In the rural communities of Delta, Franklin, Hopkins, Morris, Red River, and Titus Counties, resources are scarce. CIS helps to find the few resources that are available in the communities served and brings those services into the schools for easier access by the children and their families. By bringing resources and relationships into the schools, the needs of the children and families are met in the schools, where the children spend most of their time.
In addition, CIS provides activities and events that reach approximately 13,000 more students in the districts served. These activities include college readiness workshops, career fairs, drug/substance abuse awareness activities, Veterans’ Day celebrations and other intergenerational activities, service learning, and much more. The mission of Communities In Schools is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
